The first full week is in the books and we are pushing on into the heart of the first quarter. I can't emphasize enough how important it is for your child to study their spelling words during the week. It will severely hurt their grade if they just show up on Friday and take the test cold turkey.
Speaking of cold, the temperatures are starting to dip so if you have not already done so, I would suggest getting the kids winter gear ready. I brought my kid's stuff up from the basement yesterday and dusted it off. Cold weather is no joke.
We have our first math test of the year this week on Thursday. It deals with place value, decimals and writing numbers correctly whether in word or numerical form. I am hoping to see some good grades as this will show the kids are grasping some essential 5th grade concepts.
Thanks to all who showed up for exhibit night this last week. I am still waiting on Accelerated Reader and Mathletics to be activated. In the meantime, keep the kids reading!
Lastly, a 'heads up' that I will be gone for a couple of days next week moose hunting. I expect all my kids ot be on exemplary behavior for whomever the substitute may be.
Thanks!
